Outcomes Assessment Workshop Objectives:

• Provide a general overview of the outcomes assessment process and a specific overview of the types of outcomes - program, course, and effectiveness measures.
• Define and describe student learning outcomes and the various measures used in outcomes assessment (direct, indirect, and effectiveness measures).
• Describe how your programs are measuring student learning outcomes (illustrate with customized examples).
• Describe how the results of student learning outcomes are used to improve instruction and programs (illustrate with customized examples).
• Conduct group activities for using data results to create meaningful changes and improvements for courses, programs, services and operations.
• If requested, provide an overview of accreditation, its benefits, and preparation for the site visit (questions the site team will ask of faculty and administration with the focus on outcomes assessment). And/or direct ties to enrollment management and improving financial performance.

Patty Castelli, Ph.D.

Dr. Castelli is an associate professor and the outcomes assessment coordinator for the College of Management at Lawrence Technological University in Southfield, Michigan. Dr. Castelli works closely with the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education (IACBE) where she presents annually on outcomes assessment and served as Chair for the Board of Commissioners. Dr. Castelli is also a management consultant who owns and operates PAC Productions (www.pacproductions.com), which provides customized services for all aspects of corporate leadership training and development. Her clients include General Motors Corporation, The American Medical Association, IBM, Sara Lee Corporation, Whirlpool International, Amway Corporation, and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan. Dr. Castelli received her Ph.D. in Instructional Technology, a Division of Administrative and Organizational Studies, from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, and holds a Master of Business Administration from Lawrence Technological University in Southfield, Michigan.
